BLACK AMERICAN WALNUT | In Depth

Black American Walnut is actually anything but black, so the name can be a bit misleading. Once finished, it is a purple, reddish brown. However, walnut wood flooring sourced from Chinese manufacturers is usually much darker because it has been stained and then lacquered to hide the sapwood. If you want to get the best out of walnut, buy it unfinished and then have it oiled or lacquered by professionals. This wood has to be sanded extremely finely to get the best result. Walnut has a beautiful rich and dazzling grain pattern.
