Hickory is generally used for a variety of applications such as the manufacture of tool handles, drumsticks, walking sticks, and even baseball bats. It is a very stiff and dense wood, and incredibly shock resistant. It has a trademark look: a beautiful tight grain full of brown and black streaks. However, because it has such a wild grain, it is currently more popular in the USA than it is in British households.
