Ash is best known for its use in baseball bats as it has exceptional strength to weight ratio. This is a tough wood with excellent shock resistance characteristics, and makes a splendid - if not particularly popular - wood floor. It takes extremely well to staining, and some great finishes can be achieved using this wood.
